Sudden bright ball of white-yellow light.

Seen while driving in car with my 17 year old son in late afternoon-dusk. A bright white light just skimming the treetops suddenly appeared on the driver side. It lasted about 5 seconds, before suddenly disappearing, leaving no trace. We both saw it and had the same impression of it.
