Mountain top looked like it was on fire but lifted up and hovered for several minutes before flying upward extremely fast.

On back deck watching neighbors' fireworks, overlooking Newfound Mountain, saw the highest mountain peak was on fire (whole top) then the whole fire lifted up above the mountain and hovered for 2-3 minute before flying up fast and disappearing.
