When I was in middle school the summer of 1967 my buddy and I were camping in my back yard.

Around 1:00 am we decided to take a walk, it was a clear, warm summer night. We had been hearing on the radio there were a number of UFO sightings in the Portland area that night and wondered if we could see one. Walking across the back yard to the gate we were surrounded by a beam of light and thought my father caught us trying to sneak out of the yard. My friend and I realized at the same moment the light was coming from above my neighbors house about 25 yards away. We saw a non-solid 15 ft blue oval shape with a white aura surrounding it. We were frozen in our tracks and stared at it while it silently hovered rocking slightly. It looked like electricity,not solid, then it took off so fast I almost couldn't follow it and left what looked like light smoke. I turned 180° and saw it climbing at an unbelievable speed until out of sight. We ran into my house barely able to tell my father what we saw. He was an ex Airforce pilot and didn't believe a word we said and called us big ! babies because we refused to go back outside to sleep. The next morning I was out front doing yardwork with my father and the neighbor from across the street came over. He said he had just gotten home from working a late shift at the mill and was standing on his front porch when he saw "the strangest thing over the neighbor's house".....
