Plane trailing behind gray smoke coming from unseen object. I saw an airplane traveling southeast towards the mountains just south of Bakersfield, CA. In front of the plane was a smoky grey area. It looked like it could be exhaust from a craft but I could not see any other aircraft in front of the plane. It looked like the plane was following this grey cloudy formation, almost looked like something was cloaked that created this grey funnel.
