Large and bright red fireball or light, silent and very fast moving northward, and then nearly 90 degree westward turn over Pamlico Sound. Red fireball or sphere arose from behind a house or the sound (?) and quickly, silently, rose into the sky going Northward. Moved at a very fast speed and then turned westward and disappeared. The light seemed larger and brighter than airplane lights. No sound of a helicopter, and it was quite close (should have been audible, were it a helicopter).
