12-15 golden-white lights equally spaced, unmoving, about a mile from the shore out in the ocean

I was awakened by a bright light, thinking it was the near full moon. Then I realized it should have set hours ago. I looked out the window, overlooking the Atlantic Ocean and saw 12 to 15 golden white lights, all exactly the same distance from each other and exactly the same size, unmoving, as if in a quiet bay. There was one red light at the western end of the array.

They looked to be about a mile off shore. I looked away and when I looked back, one or two lights in the center had gone out, the rest were still there, no motion, all exactly spaced.

In the morning I mentioned it to someone who had grown up in the house and was an avid sailor. He saw it too, said he had never seen anything like it before. He described it looking like a “flotilla.” He couldn’t get a sense of how far away it/they were. We were talking about the lights as if they were fishing boats.

No talk about UFO’s, I didn’t think of it until I was half way into Connecticut and I remembered the light that woke me up. I can’t communicate with the fellow who also saw it until next week when he returns to dry land.

We spoke via telephone with the source of the report, and she estimated the time she awoke at 03:45 hrs.. She seemed to us to be quite sincere and serious-minded. We suspect she is a very good witness. PD
