Egg shaped pod with large spheres on either side. Blinded by craft. 25+ minute sighting.

In the summer months of 2003, I was heading home traveling West bound on Highway 40 towards Hanes mall. It was around this point that an egg shaped pod with two large spheres on either side is seen flying around 1,500 ft, at approximately 40-70mph in a South-Eastern direction.

We decided to follow as far as we could and figure out what this was. Myself and my passenger kept watch on the object as it changed direction, heading towards Lexington.

The object began making a turn, at which point we exited on Hickory Tree Rd. and parked in the Harris Teeter lot to watch as it began its turn.

The object turned to face us directly, and flew toward our vehicle at a slow pace. It was visible at this time for over 1 minute. I could clearly make out an off white color, and spheres on either side that looked from the front like insect eyes.

Flying about 800 ft above ground at this point, the craft activated these spheres, which emitted a blinding flash of brilliant white light. Both myself and passenger were blinded for what I would guess was about 10 seconds, and by this time, the object was gone.

I grew up on military bases most of my life, and so I recognize very easily a military or civilian aircraft and its flight characteristics. This was not one of them. This may have been some kind of drone.

I don't think we even checked to see if we were missing time, but now that I think about it, it's all together possible.
