Very bright horseshoe shape orange lights all of a sudden appear and disappear just as quick

My wife and i heard loud booming sounds around 11pm

we stepped outside to have a cigarette and to pretty much check out the noises, thinking it was sonic booms or something.

as soon as we step out and look to the sky we imediately noticed a bright orange flash and we both thought it was a meteroite but realized that it was about 4 to 8 bright orange yellow lights in sort of a horseshoe shape that faded out as soon as it appeared

followed by the same action again.this happened many times over for about 10 minutes
