Blinding white light and loud boom - thought it to be thnder/lightning, but no other flashes/rumbles were heard before/after occurrence

I was sitting in the house when a large white light flashed and a loud boom filled the sky. I went outside to see if it was lightning and nothing was in the sky. No other flashing lights or sounds were heard. It was a blinding white light.
