Orange shape hovered, rose into clouds.

I looked up and noticed an orange object hovering over the downtown area for half a minute or so. It was shaped like a flattened sphere (or maybe a very thick disk) and looked like it was lit from within. The light pulsed, brightening and dimming on a cycle that was a few seconds long. It didn't make any sound. I thought it might be a model blimp or balloon lit from within or something similar, but then it shot up into the clouds really fast. It lit up the clouds (not a lot, but noticeable) briefly as it passed into them but quickly faded after it did.
