Bright flash in the sky followed by a distant explosion about 3 seconds later. It was not lightning. It was not a stormy night and there were no other occurances this evening.

The explosion sounded like a gun shot or maybe a crash. This occured at 01:59:39 Near the University Of Utah.

My collegue and I reviewed our buildings security footage and were able to catch the flash and the time but not the origin. Our thoughts are that it might have been a meteor and we plan to investigate the location of where we think the sound came from which was near the mouth of Emigration Canyon.
