Bright light with a grey oval background. Appeared for 10 seconds then disappeared in the sky

A bright light appeared in the sky with what looked like a grey oval shape behind it. This lasted for about 10 seconds and then out of nowhere disappeared into the sky. Both I and my roommate witnessed this event and it was a very clear night so there were no obstructions in our view.
