Formation of bizzare blinking lights near Salem Nuclear Plant 500 Lights On Object0: Yes

Background: I work at an industrial facility in the Du-Pont chambers works complex. Start of night shift. Sun had just set.

During my first rounds from a vantage point of 100' I observed a formation of blinking lights in the direction of Salem (not far from the nuclear plant) primarily white with intermittent flashes of red and blue. I continued observing, at first thinking it was a helicopter, however after some time I ruled out that as a possibility when the movement and character of the flashes became bizarre.

The lights would jolt horizontally from one position to the next with an astounding speed. All the while the lights would gain and loose intensity. The flash pattern also changed frequently and had no regularity that is often associated with normal aircraft.

The next sequence of events are what I feel sets this sighting into the category of a UFO. The lights faded out completely and re-appeared a good deal of distance away instantaneously. The intensity of the lights grew almost 10 fold. The lights then split into two separate formations going from a bright white to incandescent red/orange gradually increasing and decreasing in intensity at about .5 cycles per second . The two formations traveled away from each other horizontally to a point then began moving in the same direction. After a short time they reformed into the original formation I had observed and continued behaving in the same erratic fashion.
