Greenish-blue fireball seen off I-45N

In the fall of 2000, I was on my way back to college, from Houston to Dallas, on I-45 between 2 and 4am. I witnessed a green-blue enormous fireball fall from the sky. It had to be at least the size of 10 one-story houses as it fell far behind a house on the side of the freeway and was still larger than the house.

I could not see it hit the ground, but there was no flash of light or sound. No smoke trail could be seen, though it was dark. At the time I had my CB radio set to the truckers channel, but it was its usual silence (several semi-trucks were near me - and it's location off the freeway made it unmissable).

I never reported it before as I thought it was a meteor, but the color is what was amazing about it and I cannot get it out of my mind. If it was a meteor and these are usual characteristics of one, please set me straight.
