Flying fire rectangular object

Sighting August 4th 2011 in Winter, WI. Time of sighting was just after 10:00 PM.

We were up at my parents cabin on Black Dan lake for a fishing trip and my brother-in-law and I had gone outside to look at the stars. My brother-in-law has never been up to the cabin and I wanted him to see how many stars you can see way up north. As we were walking out to the road I mentioned to him that it is so dark up here you will have a hard time seeing the your hand in front of your face. When we stepped out into the complete darkness we looked straight up and he was amazed at the amount of stars in the clear night sky. As we looked south we were both taken by surprise and seemed to be in a state of shock. What we were looking at was a bright reddish orange object moving slowly in our direction coming from the southwest moving to the northeast. The object looked like a rectangular cube and the intensity of the light was like a brit fire. We were looking at this object at about a 30 degree angle in the beginning to about a 60 degree angle when it disappeared. There w! as no wind and the temperature was around 60 -65 degrees and the sky was clear.

As the object moved slowly closer to our position my brother-in-law started saying go get your camera, over and over. I don’t know why I didn’t run and get it at the first but I was in a state of aw. The object continued move in out direction and I did run in side to get my camera. As I was running in to get my camera it felt like I was running up hill and that I would never get it in time to capture the object. I franticly opened the door and started rumbling to get my camera bag open. I had that strange felling that I was going to never make it, or it was just out of reach like in a dream. I was able to get my camera and charged back out into the pitch black night. As I ran out, I had turned on my camera and captured a short video of the object as it flew a way and then just disappeared in the night sky.

My brother-in-law asked me if I got it and I explained that I could see the object as I recorded but it was distorted at times and looked like you were looking out a window with rain drops on it. This object must have been a thousand feet in the air and was seen by us for about 5 minutes before it disappeared completely. We did not see any outline around the light object but if you had a ping-pong ball held in your fingers at arms length this object would not be blocked out by the size of the ping-pong ball (This is when the object was closest to us).

Once the object was gone we both new we had seen something that would be hard to explain to the others in the cabin. I don’t know why I didn’t yell out for everyone to come outside but I think we were just hypnotized by the moment. I have always wondered what it would be like to see a Unidentified Flying Object and now I have even more wonderment than before.

The video was taken as the object flew away from us to the northeast.
