I was letting my dog outside around 10 pm east of Mt. Vernon and standing in my front yard looking at the night sky, when I noticed overhead a star like object that moving from south to north like an airplane.

Seconds later, the object gradually got smaller until, it just blinked out of existence.

On July 17, the next night after telling my sister about what I saw, she came to my house and wanted to star gaze with me. At around 10pm we saw the object again, it suddenly appeared in the west over Mt. Vernon as a star or planet and was moving to the south like an airplane. We watched it for about 10 seconds, and it again blinked out of existence.
