Unidentified Silent Shiny Red Light Moving at a Low Level across Niagara area

A special Canada Day visit; I saw an unidentified silent shiny object in the sky last night.

Between 10:20 & 10:50 pm last night, I was in the backyard (in the north central portion of St. Catharines, Ontario) to check out the fireworks some of the neighbours were setting off, when I saw what looked like a roman candle going up into the sky, a block or 2 over, between a gap in the trees.

It was red and bright, just like some of them are, but it just kept going, or coming, and was totally silent, it appeared to be about 100’ to 300’ in the air when it got closer, and came almost over my yard heading west, made a slow turn and continued along toward Pt. Dalhousie. It didn’t seem like it was going real fast, but at what seemed like a constant speed in mostly a straight line. (having had a Pilot’s licence since turning 17, I have familiarity with standard forms of aviation).

At the closest, it was perhaps the size of a nickel, when held at arm’s length.

I watched it for 2 or 3 minutes, then brought my mom out to see it. But, it took her a minute or 2 to get outside, and by then it was farther away, and not as bright. But, still much brighter than any airplane or planet would have been.
