a group of red lights over north wales and merseyside

i saw 6 or seven red lights very very high in the sky but with distance between them in a uneven line heading south/west over the river dee. at the height there were they must have been about 500 meters apart. the light seemed to make the area around them darker rather than lite. i watched for about 30 seconds then they faded away. it was very clear with no cloud
