unknown ball of light appeared and then took off at a high rate of speed!!!

I was sitting outside on my porch having a smoke , when all the sudden a ball of light appear about 2 blocks away and about 300 feet in the air and it was round and very bright light was coming from it,

the unknown object stayed in the same position for about one minute and then took off at a high rate of speed going in the direction of southwest faster than any plane or man-made craft then it was gone from my site.
