4 round disc flying over palm springs on the night of oct. 26, 2008

i was out on my patio smoking around 10:30 last night. i turned to the north and was looking up at the night sky when i notice 4 objects flying together in a loose formation. i stared at them as they flew over head and saw no lights and heard no sounds. they were all round, about 30 to 40 feet across. They were flying about 1000 to 2000 feet above ground. i watched them until they vanished. all four were heading south. this was my first time seeing something like this. i now know we are not alone.
