Dark orange, circular, stationary object

While taking the kids around trick or treating, we observed a dark orange circular object about the size of your thumbnail with your arm outstretched could been seen about 35 degrees above the horizon to the WSW. The object remained stationary and did not vary in brightness. We pointed it out to some other parents in the area, then we all observed the object until a cloud passed in front of it, blocking our view.

At the time we assumed it was a hot air balloon, but couldn't imagine a balloon flying at night. It definitely was not the sun or moon and it was much larger than a star. It did not have any white, red, or green lights typical of aircraft.

I forgot about it until I heard Peter Davenport on Coast-to-Coast AM say that others had reported seeing a similar object. Aliens? I doubt it, but definitely a UFO.
