Ufo sighting 17 miles into the atlantic ocean My husband and i (and another couple) were sailing from Jamestown, RI to block island on this date. We were 17 miles off the coast of Jamestown and it was night time. The sky was extremly clear that night so i was watching for shooting stars when i noticed a bright light, very bright light coming from what seemed to be aircraft. I alerted my husband to it to see what he thought 'they' were doing. I had thought it was a helicopter possibly looking for a person or a boat in trouble b.c the light was so bright. i went below to get binoculars and gave them to my husband since he is very familiar with the different types of aircraft. The aircraft was alone at that time, and from what i could tell had one bright light. It wasn't far from the ocean like an airplane might be. It flew at the height of what most helicopters fly when they are looking for something.What shocked me was the pattern in which it flew. It wasn't flying staight nor was it flying in a zig zag. it seemed to be flying in a circular pattern...almost as if it were going around another object. I couln't hear any noise except the waves in the ocean. We watched it til it was almost out of sight. At that point, i thought i saw another one about 90 degrees away from the original one but I am unsure. ( my husband said he saw smaller lights.I am unable to confirm this as he had the binoculars for some time.)
