Observed at close range hovering red glowing sphere 15 to 20 feet above the ground in wooded swamp area in Aurora

I was 15 years old then, I was with 8 other friends on the edge of the swamp near Aurora Lake when we looked up and saw a glowing red sphere about 15 to 20 feet above us just hovering silently. We left in a real hurry and never talked about since. I wonder if anyone else has seen this object as well. ((name deleted)) Akron, Ohio
