Shape:

Bright red light in sky. Hovered, soundless, in same position. Ruled out it was a helicopter, or blimp due to lack of sound. Same place for some time as we went to get binoculars. When it moved, it left at an abrupt angle west to east losing altitude until out of line of sight. We called local TV station to inquire if any reports. Called local small airport, but it was closed for the holiday.
