UFO floating still, then speeding off incredibly fast

I was leaving a convenience store, randomly looked up in the sky, and saw a long rectangled thing, with 3 white lights on the bottom. it was about as high as helicopters fly. It was there in place for about 3 seconds, then it took off, about 5X faster than a plane. As it took off, all 3 lights turned off as well.
