As a child in Cheshire, CT, I saw a light silver, disc-shaped object move very fast and hover silently overhead

I was in the front yard of my childhood home, sitting alone on a large rock.

Weather Conditions:
Clear sky with little to no cloud cover. Warm temperature consistent with late spring or summer. Grass was very green. I was wearing shorts and a short-sleeved shirt and was comfortable outdoors. The sun was not in my direct line of sight.

Description of Object:
I observed something moving extremely fast across the sky. The speed immediately caught my attention. The object then stopped directly above me and hovered. It appeared circular in shape. The color appeared silver, with a metallic look in the daylight. It was high in the sky but low enough that I could clearly distinguish its circular form. I do not recall seeing flashing lights, markings, or surface details. I do not remember hearing any sound associated with it.

Movement:
Very rapid movement across the sky. Abrupt stop directly overhead. Hovering for several seconds. I did not witness its departure, as I ran inside out of fear.

Emotional Response:
I felt frightened and immediately ran into the house. I reported the sighting to my grandmother, who dismissed it as imagination. After calming down, I returned outside and attempted to see it again but did not observe anything further. I have not seen anything similar since.
