I'm a (now retired) Police Officer and my wife works in Medical Records at a large hospital in San Diego.

My wife and I were driving back to San Diego from my brother's home in Phoenix in the late afternoon, March 1997, while it was still daylight. She spotted a huge, black triangular object floating over the Gila Mountains to the north of us. She pointed it out to me and we continued to watch it as we traveled westbound on freeway 8. We traveled 75-80 mph for 45 minutes and never lost sight of it. We finally stopped at a rest stop and watched it until it got too dark to see it anymore, so we continued on home. We did not see any lights on it during the time, just jet black, triangular, with semi-bulbous "pods" on the underside of each corner. A short time later on that evening, "The Phoenix lights" event occurred which my brother told me about the next morning. .

I tried to report it to the officials in Phoenix advising that my wife and I both saw the object clearly in the daylight nestled over the deck of the Gila Mountains South West of Phoenix. No one has ever responded to us which is frustrating to this day.

I see the videos on TV speculating that it was multiple craft in a V formation, or a V shaped craft like the common artist's rendition on the craft. None of these are what we saw. The closest correct rendition of what we saw was on a recent episode of a show about USOs. They showed a black triangular craft with the pods as I described, although they did not connect it to the Phoenix event.
My wife and I both agreed that was the craft we saw in the late afternoon the day of the Phoenix lights (although without the structure on the top as depicted in their rendition).

Can you please refer me to someone that would like to have this information? We don't want anything other than to correct what seems to be missing from the description of the Phoenix object.
