I was 5 years old in 1973 we were driving and pulled over to see an orb moving back and forth across the sky

I was driving with my mom and grandmother, I was 5 years old in 1973. My mother pulled over when they saw multiple cars pulled over and wanted to investigate. I remember seeing a white orb, looked like a star that you could see and follow it across the sky to another location. This lasted for maybe 15 minutes?
