Very fast bright amber light moving north. Faded out a pulsed back many times before disappearing after holding a steady brightness.

Saw a single very bright amber light straight overhead traveling north moving very fast. I thought it was a shooting star at first but then realized it was not. It never burned out the way a shooting star does. It traveled north until out of sight over the foothills. Compared to a jet liner it was easily moving four times as fast. I'd say better than 2,000 miles an hour. Before it disappeared over the foothills, it faded out but then pulsed back to full brightness. It did this multiple times before finally going out of view behind the foothills. I've seen the ISS many times. This was moving far faster through the night sky. I just randomly stepped outside and there it was. Weather was clear and calm with a lot of extra light from a very bright moon. After seeing this I had goosebumps for a good fifteen minutes. Definitely not a satellite or ISS or any kind of plane or helicopter. I can't even begin to guess what it could have been.
