Sighting from Airliner at cruising altitude

I was 6 and traveling with my grandmother, mother and brother on an airliner from Albuquerque, NM on the first leg to Chicago, IL and I saw what I thought was an another aircraft and I was happy as I looked at it's windows. I was on the window side and saw a tube with windows on it slowly moving, as I thought at the time, from the opposite direction of travel like two trains passing each other going in opposite directions. I was looking to my left out of the window at the window seat. Years later I realized you can't have aircraft flying that close to each other up there and that it's likely that the object was going at at a slightly lower speed relative to the aircraft I was in.
