Car suddenly filled with bright lights

We were the only car on the road driving in pitch black, there were no lights on the Palisades Parkway at that time, my car suddenly filled with very bright lights, I looked up and saw a huge amount of lights over my car. The next thing I remembered was driving on the George Washington Bridge. On two other occasions, while living at West Point, I saw a bright light in the sky that was moving up and down and then just disappeared in a flash.
