A tear drop shaped light passed vertically past my apt. balcony. I know it was close

I saw it drop down from sky vertically right near my balcony. It was very bright. It happened so quickly but a tear drop shaped light passed vertically past my apt. balcony. I know it was close because I saw it as it kept going downward passing the balcony railing.
