I was woke up by my partner around 5am who wakes around 4:45 for work, asking if I could see an object in the sky. We have clear views over Liverpool from our balcony on the 2nd floor.
There was a bright intense light in the sky. My partner always takes a few minutes to look at the view of morning and had never seen this.
On eye observation the light was brightening and then dimming repeatedly. It looked like it was flashing green to red with a constant white/ orange light. It looked like it was hovering then moving slightly around the same spot.
The light was over liverpool, we were looking south at it. Orion’s Belt was to the west of the object.
My partner began to record on his mobile. This is when the object was visibly changing shape from circle to square. It was almost transparent changing from red to green. It was fading in and out of colours rather than flashing. When taking still photos the camera picked up a purple flash/ streak widening in the middle in the same air space as the object.
I have videos and still photos to back this up.
I have never seen anything like this. We are used to seeing all types of air crafts we can see planes coming in and out of the local airport. We also have regular helicopters private, emergency service and occasional army. This was not any of them. I am also familiar with where the stars are on clear nights as I've observed them from the same position over 8 years.
