Object was reflecting the sunset very brightly and stayed in fixed point in the sky. Grew dim when sun set. Gone when I checked later.

The depth was clearly such that it was an object in the sky, not in space. It did not move. When the sun set and it became dim, I grabbed my camera to get a better image of it and it was no longer there. I saw a plane flying near but it did not come close to the object or seem to convey interest/awareness.
