Witnesses were on front porch in bright sunlight, object moving overhead. Definitely not aircraft. +- 17:30. hovered, changed direction
On 09/04/2025 at approximately 17:30, 4 witnesses were on the front porch. I looked up and saw an object moving overhead from east to west. It was strange because planes coming in to land or take off from Cape Town International Airport would travel from south to north and vice versa. I asked if everybody saw this, and they did, but no-one could identify the object even though one of the witnesses was an avid plane spotter.
The object appeared to be moving in a straight line across the skyline from east to west. After a while it stopped and hovered for about 2-3 minutes. It then changed course at 90° and travelled due south. Again, after a short while, it stopped and hovered for about 2-3 minutes. Then it took off in a northwesterly direction and was not seen again.
During the time it flew across the skyline, it seemed to change shape and colour. It started as what seemed like white/silver and changed to gold and white alternatively. The craft also started round and changed to a flatter, more angular shape. The shape was difficult to identify, as it seemed to be tumbling head over heels and rotating on its own axis at the same time while moving in straight lines.
This object did not move in conventional ways. There is no way this could be an aircraft or a weather balloon as neither of these hover in place or change direction like that. It was to high to be a drone and drones do not tumble or rotate on their axis while flying straight.
