Sighting of high altitude UFO in NYC airspace in nighttime conditions.
On the evening of Tuesday 9th September 2025, at 2100 hours,
while seated at the GPS coordinates provided above, designating the "Fordham Landing basketball courts", I believe that I sighted a high altitude unidentified flying object.
The object approached roughly from a south westerly direction and I believe it was descending while doing so, and exited my field of vision, after having flown north easterly over my general position. The object had a single, very bright white light on his belly or nose area, but was devoid of any discernible legally required safety features, such as anti-collision beacons or navigation lights. The object's forward momentum seemed to slow as it passed over my position, and once it did, it appeared to climb and turned off its very bright light, seemingly disappearing into the night. I had the object in sight for approximately 2 minutes.
From this vantage point, I routinely observe light aircraft (general aviation, private, or law enforcement helicopters). Most of my observations are of the traffic climbing out of Newark airport (7000-9000 ft) on average, and the traffic landing into LaGuardia (2000-4000ft). There is also some higher altitude traffic, transiting, those corridors are generally West to East. Those commercial aircraft, at all of those altitudes, have discernible safety features engaged : navigation lights and beacons for all, and landing lights when appropriate while in class B airspace.
What I saw, was like the brightest, non-flashing or strobing, lightbulb, slowly swooping down over me, then climbing off into the night and "lights out". The intensity was comparable to that of landing lights I've previously seen, on newer model aircraft on the LGA landing pattern. Unfortunately, my spotting area being adjacent to I87, means much sound is drowned out, barring what's flying low and directly overhead. The brightness of the light precluded from any precise or adequate perception of the object's shape.
About the object's altitude :
* The object was too bright to be an orbiting satellite. Those were definitely "in atmosphere" lights. Also LEO objects speeds remain constant during their transiting.
* Flying above class B airspace, for sure, but I'm unable to guess more precisely.
No pictures or video recording was taken at the time, as I firmly believe that a cellphone rendition would have only shown a blurry blob of light, providing little or no useful information.
Proceeding to this report, is for my own peace of mind, and in hopes that your administration can provide realistic and fitting answers, about the object that I sighted in NYC airspace, on a night in September, that doesn't mention any variant of the phrase : "It's all in your head".
I however, remain at your disposition, should you like to provide answers or have questions about what I believe the nature of the object to have been. Please note, that written communication is always preferred over telephone contact.
