Orange Orb Appeared Out of Thin Air, Near Ground, Hovered Then Shot Off Upwards
At approximately 2:30 AM, off of Province Lake (on Province Lake Rd) in East Wakefield, NH. I was pulled aside the road in a golf cart with another witness with our high-beams illuminating about 100ft in front of us. We were conversing when, out of thin air, a small orange/amber-colored orb, estimated to be about the size of a baseball or tennis ball, appeared out of thin air approximately 30-50ft in front of us, about 4ft off the ground. It could be compared to lightbulb or very similar to orange orb sighting you can find online - a fireball, almost (no flames).
The orb seemed to raise slightly (about 6-12 inches) before instantly shooting off at a velocity that had to exceed 100mph, at least. One witness believed it shot directly upwards, while another believes it shot at a 45-degree angle toward our cart, but over it. It moved so fast, that we did not directly see any trail. I believe it disappeared somewhere in the sky though. During departure, it made a zoom/whoosh, similar to that of a fast car passing by. This all occurred within the span of 1 to 3 seconds.
It was not sighted again for the remainder of our time out there - about another hour. Both witnesses have spent years at this location, out late, and have not seen anything of the sorts. Both witnesses were completely sober.
The object displayed no features of a drone during its brief hover (was silent, did not have any body, wings, or propellers). It showed no sparks or explosions consistent with fireworks. No people were nearby, and our beams illuminated the woods, next to where it originated, ruling out someone tossing or projecting the object. Additionally, no sounds of movement we heard from the orb or nearby area/woods afterwards.
