Faint ball of light zipping about the sky
From my garden I looked south and up at a plane (what I have since identified as a Dublin to Bucharest A320 @37000ft and approx 20 miles distant) and a ball of light zipped into my field of view, covering 20° of sky in just a few seconds. The ball stopped abruptly, zig-zagged and then zipped in it's original direction of travel for another second or two before stopping and at apparently great speed zipping away. During the display I called my partner and she witnessed the manoeuvres. I asked her to keep the light in view while I ran into the house for binoculars. Unfortunately on my return the light had disappeared behind very tall trees and did not reappear. I am a keen amateur astronomer & aviation enthusiast who has spent many nights in darkness and I have also observed many types of aircraft but this display startled me.
