My wife, my son, and I were out by Kentucky Lake, and from around midnight to 4 AM, we saw some unbelievable stuff in the sky.
It started around midnight on the horizon — glowing orb-like lights that would appear and disappear. At first, I played it off like I usually do, but I finally pointed it out and said, “What the hell is that?” My son saw it too and jumped up — and trust me, he doesn’t scare easy, but this shook him.
As we watched, one super bright orb came out over the bay, heading straight toward us. It looked like it was really coming at us — I actually stepped back and told my son, “Grab your phone.” Then just like that, it vanished.
The activity kept going, so my son told me to grab my camera — I’m shooting on a Canon R5ii with a 2.8 lens. I started snapping stills while he recorded video on his iPhone 15 Pro Max. Just a heads up: I was doing 1–2 second exposures to better capture the light, so the orbs in the photos leave a trail — not because they’re moving fast, but due to the long exposure.
Around 2:30 AM, things shifted. The orbs faded out, and we started seeing silent craft flying directly over us. No sound at all — just red and green lights, and three red strobes flashing. That’s when we saw the triangle-shaped objects. They weren’t like anything I’ve ever seen. They flew slow, completely silent, and steady.
We stayed out there until 4 AM, and eventually, it all stopped.
For context, we weren’t out there looking for anything. We were just up late talking about my wife’s dad — he passed away this past Monday — and we were listening to music, sharing memories, when this all started happening.
I’m not sure what to do with the footage. I’ve got a decent following, and I used to be on Gold Rush for a few years — but now I work behind the camera. I’m not trying to chase attention or go viral. I just want to get this in front of someone who knows what they’re looking at.
