I was staying at Atlantic View hotel, ocean side when I woke up about 4:00am and went out on my balcony and observed the stars, it was a clear sky. I first noticed (my first satellite viewing) of a satellite headed 22 degrees north at 4:15 (not what I'm reporting here). I saw two more satellites headed in same trajectory at 4:28 and 4:35 am. The excitement of seeing my first satellites caused me to continue scanning the sky for more.
Then at roughly 4:45 am I noticed what appeared to be a faint star high in the sky at 130 degrees southeast at about 75-80 degrees high. At first I thought it was just a star, but then noticed it made unusual movements, which from my reference point those movements could have fit inside the size of a quarter if I were to hold it up to the sky, although from the objects location was probably moving great distances. The movements consisted of holding still for several seconds, then would sometimes move in a circular motion combined with straight line movements and the speed that it moved would sometimes accelerate and then slow down. It would also make some sharp angle movements. The "star" seemed to move in such a way that it was observing or scanning for something. In an effort to validate what I thought I was seeing from my small balcony, I braced myself with one hand on the railing and the other against the wall. I woke my wife up and had her also confirm what I was viewing. As the sunrise was coming up at 5:15am, it eventually it faded out of view. All my observances were with the naked eye.
