Orbs seen through cloud cover at incredible speeds

For about an hour we noticed 1 and sometimes two white orbs through thick cloud cover flying across the sky extremely fast (1-2 seconds). This happened about every 5-10 minutes for roughly an hour. A few times we witnessed the orb start as one and then split off and make a U turn and back across the sky but not the same exact path it had originally taken.
