Silver Sphere seen motionless from elementary school playground

Believe the location to be at or near the Ford elementary school, although that didn't open until 1972. From elementary school playground, saw a large, silver sphere hovering off school grounds, but not more than 1/2 mile away. All the kids on the playground saw it, and were talking about it. The teachers lined us up to go back inside, telling us it was a weather balloon. This had none of the characteristic shape of a weather balloon at low altitude.
