Faint glowing X shape object

I was on my honeymoon at this resort, I saw a shooting star on the first night and the light pollution was very low so I’d hope to see another. I was looking out to sea most nights hopeful to see another one. I thought I spotted something, but after looking at it for a while I realised it was very close and moving slowly through the night sky. I thought it was perhaps a loose helium balloon drifting across at first, but it interacted violently with a light beam projected from a beach party. When the light touched it, the object took incredible efforts to avoid it and zoomed away out to sea and seemed to land on water and vanish. It was the strangest thing I’ve ever seem in my life.
