There was a visit which terrified me, and a few nights later an incident similar to the April 1561 broadsheet account

When I was about 5 years old in 1954 when I lived in Northeast Philadelphia, 2 nights of incidents have remained in my mind for 70 years. It is my opinion neither of these events were dreams & my lifestyle at the time did not provide content or knowledge of what I was experiencing to give me the ability to make it up.

Day 1
I awoke late in the night from sleep in the dark with a man in my room. He was about 40, Caucasian with a dark beard. He was covered in bright shiny golden metallic "clothing". About 4 years later I encountered my 1st knowledge of Conquistadors & decided this was how he appeared to be clothed. But at the encounter I was simply frozen with fear. I felt like I wasn't in my room anymore, but I felt like I was in my bed...or a bed. The man tried to talk to me - he wanted to tell me something but somehow, everything I had inside me propelled away from him & I found my way to my parents' room. I was definitely awake. They said it was a bad dream & that was it. but the "dream" stayed with me. It left me at 5 years old with lifetime of self-disappointment that I didn't listen to what the man wanted to tell me.

Day 2
A few days after the encounter this occurred.
Until recently I never connected the 2 events. In fact, I never thought much about day 2. In character, I believe what I am describing may explain possible reasons why so much of what people try to remember in encounters seems "vague".

It was just after sunset. I was with my parents at home. It was after dinner. Some sort of disturbance was occurring outside and my parents said: "we're going to see what's going on, but you stay inside!" It was fine with me; I was probably watching cartoons. But after a bit & them not returning I decided to go outside too. It was dark. There were a lot of people standing around just silently looking at the sky like they were frozen. No one was talking. No one moved a muscle. The sky was full of round lights. Some had vague shapes within the lights. They weren't moving & they filled the sky. There were a lot of them. There was an eerie threatening feeling to it all. I decided I should go back inside & I did. I didn't think they were aliens. I didn't even know about aliens or spaceships.... yet.

The next day I was expecting to hear people talking about what had been in the sky the night before. But no one said anything. I was very shy then & thought it was better for me not to say anything to anybody. And I didn't.
But I never forgot & over the years I eventually read about the April 1561 broadsheet account (image uploaded). The way the sky was filled in the woodcut was similar to my childhood memory. & I finally decided recently that the 1st night visitor was not wearing conquistador armor but probably some sort of space suit and that maybe what he wanted to tell me was about what was going to happen.

I think what happened the 2nd night was all the people outside who saw the sky ended up with no memory of what occurred. The whole incident & perhaps many of the incidents that occur every day are just forgotten. Our civilization & culture certainly encourage this behavior. But some of us for one reason or another don't get everything wiped or at least remember some of it. So, if something occurred that night in 1954 Philadelphia, I think it was well obscured and for some reason I was allowed to remember the sky that night & the visitor.

So, in conclusion I feel part of the phenomena is removal of some, most, or replacement of the content of encounters for most or ALL witnesses. But some of us are left with an experience.
