Silient dark object traveling through mist over the ocean.

Looking directly out over the ocean we saw an object cutting through the mist traveling north. Looked similar to a comet but the tail was actually the mist flowing around the object past its rear. Totally silient and no lights. No wind that evening. Was only noticeable because of the light mist over the ocean that evening.
