Disk hovers over home with no sound, then darts towards space, then darts across entire horizon multiple times before leaving

I don't know the exact date or time of the year. Other witnesses may be able to provide a more accurate date/time.

A group of neighborhood children were playing an outdoor game called "Jailbreak", a type of hide-and-seek game, which is played at nighttime. I would estimate about 10 kids from the neighborhood were playing that night and all witnessed this event. Many of the kids who witnessed this event have discussed this event later in life and confirmed with each other what they saw. The kids playing range between the ages of 7 and 15 years old at the time of the event. Most of the kids were in hiding places on this street when this event occurred.

This event started with a disk-shaped object floating slowly ( approx 1-2 mph) from behind the home (traveling north to south) and stopping directly over the home, approximately 10-20 feet above the roof of the home. The entire bottom of the disk was an extremely bright white with a very slight blue tint. I could not see the top of the disk very clearly but the bottom was slightly rounded, similar to the shape of a contact lens. Even though the light was very bright, the area around the disk was not illuminated, everything was still dark outside. I was hiding behind a short retaining wall that separates the yards from the home next door. I would estimate the distance from my location to the disk to be about 40-50 feet. (see attached photo, please note the Google Street View is from 2022, the trees in this neighborhood were much smaller in the mid-1970s)

The disc hovered above the house without moving and making no sound for several minutes. It then shot straight up vertically and stopped in the sky. There was no change in sound, and there was no gradual acceleration. It was instantly at max speed and it stopped instantly when it reached the sky, this took no longer than a second. At this point, it looked like a bright star in the sky. It remained motionless for several seconds, then darted across the skyline toward the western horizon, then darted again from the western horizon across the entire skyline to the eastern horizon, then darted again from the eastern horizon and flew out of sight in the western horizon. These 3 darts across the skyline happened within a few seconds.
