Saw a cylindrical object low in sky.

Date and time are approximate. I was 7 at time of the sighting, so some details are a little hazy, but I remember the incident fairly well. It was around sunset, but still light outside. I was outside on the deck with my dad, sitting perched on the railing while he stood beside me. I looked over to my right and saw an object in the sky. I pointed it out to my dad, and he saw it, too. It was shaped like a wine bottle, a cylinder with a pinched neck. It was off-white, kind of platinum or champaign-colored. It was metallic but not very shiny. It seemed to have some bumps around the body of it, but I couldn't see details. I believe it was flying with the thinner part pointed in front, but I might be misremembering that. It was flying very slowly (5mph?) and was quite low (definitely lower than a plane-- maybe 200 or 300 ft), less than a mile away. My dad thought it was over the nearby church. We watched it until it flew out of sight, which took about 10 or 15 minutes. If I remember right, it flew very close by as it passed (I don't think it went right overhead, but it was quite close). It might have gotten a little higher as it flew closer. As it flew over the trees, we lost sight of it. It must have made a slightly curved path from the initial location in order to come as close to us as it did. It was totally silent.

Strangely, exactly a week later, at the same time of day, we saw the same object again. All details of the first sighting were the same, down to the path it took. However, this time, I decided to go inside and grab binoculars to see it better as it approached. I ran back out to the deck and it was fairly close, so I looked through the binoculars. I saw it had a pattern of oval-shaped bumps all around the thicker part, which were darker (brownish) than the rest of the craft. I wasn't scared before, but I remember getting scared after looking at it through the binoculars, because I realized it was something really abnormal. I gave the binoculars to my dad, and he saw the same details. We watched as it flew out of sight.
