It was latenight, in the year 2012. I was driving home to Hagerstown from my ex’s house in Smithsburg. He lived on top of the mountain so I was driving down the mountain on route 77 to get home. It was after midnight.
About halfway down the mountain, getting close to the town of Smithsburg, I noticed what I thought was a really bright helicopter. It was super bright and when I arrived at the stoplight at the intersection I decided to record with my iPod touch.

It was hovering, moving very slow, very low over the town. I have it in the photo. But the then the red light turned green and I became paranoid a cop might see me using my iPod, so I put it down and proceeded to drive.
As soon as I turned left, near the bank, the UFO came right over top of my car!!! My window was down as I used to smoke cigarettes, and I noticed that it had no sound. Although I was terrified at the time, so maybe it had some sound.
I could see it SO clear, it was only about 100feet above my car! I saw a big red light in the middle of the bottom that pulsed, and 3 solid white lights, 1 for each corner. It was a perfect triangle, equal sides. Dark black, gunmetal color, and I could even see the rivets and panels. That is how close it was to me and of course its own lights lit it up for me to see since it was directly over me at the moment.

The craft then moved over the dollar general and proceeded to fly in the direction I needed to go, towards Hagerstown. Of course I couldn’t take my eyes off it! I was mesmerized. I tried to feel in my purse for my ipod to record again but I just couldn’t find it. I refused to take my eyes off the UFO, as I was driving and I was scared to crash but I had to follow it.

It kept flying in the direction I needed to go. It flew right over top/behind the AC&T on the corner of 64 (Jefferson Blvd) and 66. I turned left to go on 66 (Mapleville Rd), which leads to the highway that will take me home.
I was able to follow this UFO craft until I got to the highway. It stayed just above the trees the whole time I was following it. When I was close to the highway (i70), it started to speed up and go high. I saw it glide away so high that it just became what looks like a star. It was so graceful and smooth flying off. I don’t remember the rest of the drive home. I doubt I slept much that night.

The next morning when I told my family, they said well maybe it was a drone or stealth bomber. So I googled all images of those I could find and neither was what I saw. So I searched for black triangle UFOs and I found what I saw, a drawing of it, and showed them. They said it was for sure nothing they ever saw before. Being close to DC and Frederick, we saw plenty of military craft up that way. But it didn’t look like any stealth bomber or drone.

After researching more, I found a report on NUFORC.org made by someone else on the same night that I saw it, which helped me to confirm what I saw was real. I included the report from the random other witness, and I also include my personal photograph of the UFO when it was still over Smithburg, before I stopped recording and before it came over my car.

This sighting was near Camp David. So for 12 years I have just figured it was a secret military project. However due to all the info coming out from the Pentagon now, and countless reports of black triangles all over the world, since at least the 1950’s, has me questioning that.

What I saw defied logic and nature. I was terrified to report it, due to fear of being contacted by the government or worse. But I am no longer scared. I want everyone to hear my story. I didn’t research UFO’s much after that until now.

In 2024, there are more black triangle UFO sightings reported than ever before. That is why I decided to share my story now.
