In July 1987, I visited my family in Sacramento, California. I spent the whole of July there. On July 14, California time, I lay down in bed in my guest room at around 12:15 a.m. I turned off the light, closed my eyes and thought about the last 14 days that I had already spent in the USA. After about 10-20 minutes, still awake, I heard a quiet noise. It was as if the noise was coming from a transformer, a dull humming or buzzing sound. At the same time, I had a sudden and persistent feeling that made me think that I was not alone in the room. I was very irritated because I was alone in this room. At least that's what I thought. The door to my guest room had a knob that I had used to lock the door after entering the room. After thinking that, I wanted to open my eyes to see if someone had come into the room after all. It was illogical, but the feeling and the subtle sound continued. I then realized that I could not move my eyelids or my body. My breathing and all other involuntary functions of my body were unaffected.

I tried to open my eyes and managed to do so, but only with great effort. I saw a humanoid figure that looked like a human, but not earthly human like us; it looked quite different, but humanoid. It was standing upright, right in front of my bed. I could tell because some moonlight was shining into the room that night.

This NHI was standing upright, slightly bent over my body and was probably looking at my abdomen. My eyes were focused on my head the entire time, i.e. on my face and eyes. Despite this, I saw two arms, two legs and a torso out of the corner of my eye. Definitely humanoid. The head was hairless and excessively large compared to our heads. Around this NHI was a white-blue, transparent aura, like a mist. In other words: A white-blue light was visible around the whole body, perhaps 50 cm deep, becoming paler or more transparent away from the body.

The NHI body itself was apparently made of solid matter; it looked as if I could touch this body. I perceived a white and blue covering around the entire body. The eyes were much larger than our eyes, like those seen on the Greys, and were also almond-shaped; but they were not dark or black, but rather yellowish-orange and glowing. The glow gave off some light to the immediate surroundings. Through both light sources, the moonlight and the glow of the eyes, I saw the face.

I could see some sort of mask or nasal organ or breathing apparatus; something that started at eye level and went down to the tip of the chin, widening towards the bottom. Whatever it was, it had horizontal grooves. I did not perceive any hearing organs such as ears. The skin tone and the color of any clothing that might have been worn were only vaguely visible in the darkness and with the two weak light sources. I estimate that the skin tone was bluish, grayish. I cannot judge the texture of the skin on the head. The body or clothing on the body, which I only saw out of the corner of my eye, was darker than the color of the head.

I suffered an acute stress reaction from the unexpected event and was in shock. At that moment I could only think of one thing: I was at the mercy of this NHI or whatever it was in this situation. And I thought I had to get through it, somehow... At the same time I was aware or believed that I was "only" being looked at and that I was still alive. That's why I had a kind of trust.
The period of time in which I was able to keep my eyes open for the first time, or rather "was allowed to", lasted a few seconds, maybe 5-10 seconds. Then something acted on me that made me close my eyes, while fully conscious.

So I had my eyes closed again and I could still hear that quiet humming. I also still couldn't move my body. So it was clear to me that the situation as I saw it - with the NHI in my guest room - was not over yet. I remembered that the housekeeper, named Cora, was lying on a mattress in the hallway, sleeping. She was a Filipino housekeeper and nurse for the grandmother who lived in the room next door. Because Grandma often needed help that night, Cora slept in the hallway with her head in front of my door. I knew that. Cora's room was at the other end of the house and she didn't want to have to keep running back and forth that night. I wanted to call her, but I couldn't use my voice. In my distress, I thought of Cora and hoped she would notice that something was wrong in my room. I hoped that she would open the door. At that moment, I didn't think about the fact that I had locked the door myself from the inside.
It's even harder for me to estimate how much time passed with my eyes closed than with my eyes open. I'd estimate 1 to 2 minutes

I tried to open my eyes a second time and managed to do so, but as before I had to really fight or work against it. This NHI was still in my room, as expected. But this time I saw that it was no longer standing in front of the bed with the front of its body facing my body, but towards the door. The NHI had therefore turned 90 degrees anti-clockwise. I remember that in the second position (facing the door) the NHI's position had also changed: it was now standing about 30-50 cm closer to the door and further away from the edge of the bed. The posture was now upright, no longer bent forward like in the first position. Seconds before I had thought of Cora, who was lying behind this door! After a few seconds, I had to involuntarily close my eyelids again. This time the noise stopped immediately and I was able to move normally again, which I did immediately.

I also looked at my watch, it was about 1:30 a.m. Then I opened the door, Cora was sleeping. I woke her up and asked if she had noticed anything. I asked even though I could see that she was sleeping. I was in shock; I was completely beside myself, so to speak, and didn't want to believe that she hadn't noticed anything, even though from my point of view such a strong frequency should have been noticeable to everyone nearby.
Then I climbed over Cora and went into the garden. I wanted to see if the NHI could be seen. I only stayed in the garden for a few seconds and didn't really look closely in the darkness. At first glance there was nothing to see and I went back into the house.

Then I sat down in the open living area. I stayed there for a while, but then went back to the guest room and lay down in bed with the door open. I couldn't sleep at all. At around 3 a.m. that night, my stepbrother Lucho came home from his job and I told him what had happened. Then he asked a few questions and we went into the guest room together and looked for traces. That was his idea. Lucho looked at the floor, roughly where the NHI had been. Lucho was looking for traces of fire, or so he said. There was nothing to be seen. The fly screen on the window was also undamaged. The horizontally moving sliding window was, as it had been all night, open a crack, maybe 10-15 centimeters. We then went back to the living room and continued to talk about what had happened. Among other things, we thought about how the NHI could have gotten into my room in the first place.

During this conversation, Lucho said that two years previously he thought he had seen a UFO while standing in front of the house. He said that he looked up into the sky and saw a UFO that was moving quickly and in a zigzag pattern. He immediately went into the house to his mother and told her. They both then went outside the house and looked up into the sky, but the UFO was no longer visible. His mother did not believe him, or so he said. She is said to have told him to stop being crazy. For the next two weeks after this incident, the rest of my time in the USA, I was in a constant state of shock. I could not believe what I had seen. I told my American family what had happened. I don't think anyone believed me except Lucho.

Addition

At the end of the month I flew back to Germany, went to the library in my hometown and borrowed a book by Allen Hynek that I found there by chance. This was the first time I learned that many people had already seen something similar or the same: alien but humanoid looking NHIs with large, mostly black, but also yellow eyes and a large, hairless head. I perceived a white-blue covering around the entire body, as already mentioned. This white-blue aura/fog has also been described by other eyewitnesses.

I expressly mention that before this event I was never interested in the subject of UFOs and aliens and knew nothing about it. Nor, as has already been suggested, have I ever read any books on this subject before. It is not my interest at all to tell a made-up or false story in order to make myself important. I have been standing by this event for 36 years and it was anything but pleasant for me, as I have already described in detail on the previous page. I was always and am willing to take a lie detector test or to testify under oath.
