Saw a humongous triangular shaped object that was absolutely silent and flying low with white lights in the corners underneath

This was many years ago when I lived in the Midwest but I never have forgotten it. My friends and I were out taking a drive when the 3 of us noticed a triangular shaped something in the sky to our right so we slowed down to watch it and as it came closer and closer we were like WTF is that? It glided over the fields making absolutely no sound. There were others stopping and getting out of their cars looking at it as well though we didn’t get out of ours and I simply slowed down to a crawl so we could get a good look. It must have noticed us and the other 2 cars because it ascended quickly and was gone in a split second- again, it was humongous- like 2 or 3 football fields huge abs made zero noise, absolutely silent- and it glided like it was sliding on ice. Back then no one had a camera handy or a cell phone. We were all a bit frightened but amazed and probably a little in shock and headed home because it was ALOT to take in. We were surprised there was zero news on the sighting as we were not the only ones who saw it. We never reported it but told several friends.
